Monserrat was killed by armed assailants riding a motorcycle who arrived at the bar where she worked, shot her and fled.
The municipal seat of Jonuta was the scene of a transfemicide on the night of August 20, 2025, when a member of the LGBT+ community was murdered in a bar.
According to witness accounts, the incident occurred around 8:50 p.m., when the victim, identified by the nickname "La Monse," was socializing inside the bar.
Suddenly, men riding a motorcycle burst into the scene and, without saying a word, headed straight for "La Monse" to shoot her dead. Once they had accomplished their mission, they fled the scene.
Municipal Police officers arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area to protect the crime scene, awaiting the experts from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE ), who will be in charge of carrying out the respective investigations, in addition to ordering the removal of the body for its transfer to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) , where the legal autopsy will be performed.
