Becky was shot dead in the street after refusing to pay crimminals who were attempting to extort money from her.
In the early hours of Friday, October 10, 2025, violence shook Guayaquil once again. A 25 -year-old transgender woman, known on social media as 'Becky G', was brutally murdered after refusing to pay a "vacuna", a form of extortion that affects merchants, transporters and sex workers in different parts of the country.
According to Asociación Silueta X, an organization that defends the rights of the LGBTIQ+ population, the crime occurred in the early hours of the morning in the vicinity of the Oro Verde Hotel, in the 1° de Mayo sector.
According to the statement, several men allegedly linked to extortion networks approached Becky G and demanded payment to allow her to continue working in the area. When the young woman refused to hand over a “vacuna” [extortion payment] the attackers shot her at point-blank range, leaving her dead on the road.
Witnesses reported that her body was in a fetal position, a reflection of the violence with which she was attacked.
Becky G was known for her active presence on social media, where she shared her daily life and spoke openly about her sex work, becoming a visible voice within a constantly threatened community.
