On Monday morning (13), Pâmela Coelho, a 37-year-old transgender woman, was found dead on the sidewalk of a motel in Fortaleza, Ceará. The victim was wearing only underwear and showed signs of violence, including facial injuries. A piece of wood was found next to the body, but authorities are still investigating whether it was used in the crime. A 20-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday (14) and charged with qualified homicide, although the Civil Police did not reveal the motives for the murder. The investigation is ongoing.
The Civil Police located the main suspect at a residence, where they seized cell phones, magnetic cards, a vehicle, and clothing. The case has generated widespread publicity and concerns in the local community, which is demanding justice.
