Francisco was killed while walking back to their home.
[Editor's Note: It is not clear how the victim identified. News reports describe them as a "transgender man", but this is not confirmed. Because of this, gender neutral pronouns have been used in this report, and a photo omitted.]
A 49-year-old [person], a member of the LGBT community, died after suffering a violent attack. The victim, identified as Francisco Herrera, died after receiving a brutal beating, during which [they were] also stabbed.
Herrera, known as “La Tite,” was murdered on Wednesday night, November 12. According to reports, [they were] intercepted by several men in the Bella Vista sector of Caicara de Maturín, in Monagas state.
It was learned that shortly before the incident, the victim, who belonged to the LGBTQ+ community, had been socializing with friends at a nightclub, but left midway through the evening to go home. While walking back to [their] residence, [they were] attacked by the assailants. Herrera received a severe beating and also several stab wounds, which left [them] dying in the middle of the street .
So far, police authorities in that region do not know the motives for the attack or the whereabouts of the killers.
Francisco Herrera, nicknamed "La Tite," is the second person belonging to the LGBT community in the municipality of Cedeño to be murdered this year, according to information from the Crónica Col website. The first victim was murdered on September 6, and was identified as [deadname] Arasme, 29 years old, known as "La Churris".
