Bianca's body was found dead in her cell in Presídio Masculino de Lages - a men's prison. Two other inmates confessed to killing her.
A female inmate identified by the social name Bianca Zanotto Filho, 41 years old, was found dead in the early hours of Thursday morning, November 13th, in Presídio Masculino de Lages [Lages Men's Prison] in the Serra region of Santa Catarina.
The death was discovered around 6 a.m., during the opening of the cells. Prison officers noticed that Bianca was lying on the floor, unresponsive, and immediately called SAMU (the emergency medical service). The medical team confirmed the death inside the cell designated for LGBTQIAPN+ inmates, where Bianca had been serving her sentence for approximately six months.
Bianca was originally from Balneário Camboriú and had a criminal record for theft and robbery. She was known in the prison system by the nickname Bianca.
During the inmates' conference, two prisoners spontaneously confessed to the homicide: Lucas da Silva Nunes and Vitor Isaque Tavares Peres. According to the internal record, Lucas had injuries all over his body, possibly resulting from a fight during the early morning hours. Both were placed in solitary confinement.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the crime occurred around midnight. The main suspicion is death by suffocation, however the official cause will be confirmed by the report from the Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML). The Scientific Police conducted a complete forensic examination of the cell and the entire gallery. The Civil Police opened an investigation to determine the dynamics of the crime, the motive, and all the circumstances surrounding the homicide.
