According to friends Dusk had a strong sense of morality and justice, cared deeply about their friends and loved being around nature.
Dusk was born in March 1993 in Oldham and moved to Birmingham for university. They studied theatre and got involved with trans non-binary, bi and queer social groups.
Dusk was hilarious; though their humour could go too far at times, they’d stop when asked because they cared deeply about their friends and loved ones. They were the epitome of ‘does not suffer fools’ and a strong sense of morality and justice. If you lost their respect through your actions, they didn’t waste time or energy wrestling with disappointment, they’d just ignore you.
Their irrepressibly expressive face spoke their opinions loudly even if their mouth was silent. Outwardly a curmudgeon, and increasingly solitary as their illness progressed, they loved being a good friend and were discreetly full wholesome acts of kindness for their friends.
They were happiest in nature, communing with plants, animals and the elements. They loved karaoke and boardgames, yuzu flavoured drinks and truffle flavoured food, anime, and being naked in the rain. Being trans was joyful. Their hugs were infrequent and wonderful. We were lucky to have had them in our lives as long as we did.
Dusk is survived by their cat Terry, a sofa at Kit’s house that they had proudly filled with farts, and a family of queer friends who love Dusk dearly and hate that the cruelty of this world made it impossible for them to continue living.
