Heena was one of three trans people who died after a self-immolation protest.
Heena, a 22-year-old transgender woman from Hyderabad, died after self-immolating during a protest at Borabanda bus stand. Eight others were injured. Police have arrested Monalisa, a transgender leader, in connection with the incident.
Hyderabad: A transgender [woman] who had self immolated during a protest at Borabanda on Monday last week died while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital on Sunday early hours.
The transgender [woman] Heena (22), a resident of Borabanda along with a group of [trans people] held a protest at Borabanda bus stand demanding action against a transgender [person] who is a leader of another group.
During the protest, a group of [trans people] doused themselves with petrol and set ablaze. Eight of them sustained burns and were shifted to Gandhi Hospital for treatment.
On Sunday, Heena, who was admitted in the hospital, died on Sunday morning. Another transgender [person], Neha, had passed away during treatment two days ago.
