Luva was found dead on the Puerto Vallarta–Guadalajara highway. According to Observatorio de Feminicidios Ensenada, she had been deliberately run over in an "opportunistic homicide".
A woman was found dead in the municipality of Puerto Vallarta on the Puerto Vallarta–Guadalajara highway, near the bridge over the Mascota River and in the lane heading from Nayarit towards Puerto Vallarta, on the morning of Thursday, January 1, 2026.
According to reports to the 911 emergency number, a person was reported lying on the asphalt, and National Guard officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the officers confirmed that it was a woman located in the lane heading from Nayarit toward Puerto Vallarta.
Minutes later, highway paramedics arrived and, after examining the woman, confirmed that she had no vital signs. The area was then cordoned off to preserve the scene and allow for the corresponding investigation.
State Police officers also arrived at the scene and took note of the events, while National Guard personnel collected evidence and notified the appropriate authorities.
The woman's identity remains unknown, as do the circumstances of her death. It has not yet been determined whether she was struck by a vehicle or if her body was dumped at that location. The relevant authorities will be responsible for conducting the corresponding investigations to clarify what happened.
