Daule, Guayas (Ecuador)
Murdered

"La Venezolana" was murdered - possibly by a client. She had travelled to Daule from El Oro before being murdered.
Silueta X, Plataforma Nacional TRANS Ecuador (Coalitrans) and Federación Ecuatoriana Organizaciones LGBTI condemn the murder of a Venezuelan trans woman, known as "the Venezuelan," which occurred in the early morning of January 12 in the Daule canton, Guayas province.
According to the testimonies gathered, "the Venezuelan woman" previously resided in El Oro, where she collaborated with local foundations and was recognized as a calm person dedicated to her work, the organizations said in their statement.
At the beginning of January, she moved to Daule with other colleagues.
She worked as a sex worker independently through digital platforms. According to LGBT+ groups, initial reports suggest the crime may have been planned under the guise of a fake service.
The organizations warned that the case highlights the double vulnerability faced by transgender migrant women in Ecuador.
They indicated that the body of "the Venezuelan woman" remains in the morgue, with difficulties in its removal because there are no direct relatives in the country to carry out the legal procedure.
In response to this, Plataforma Nacional TRANS Ecuador and Federación Ecuatoriana Organizaciones LGBTI demanded that the Attorney General's Office initiate an investigation. The organizations demand that it be done under the transfeminicide protocol, considering the cruelty and the context of vulnerability.
