Dalezka´s body was found with gunshot wounds in an estuary.
The body found at sea, in the Jambelí archipelago, El Oro province, was identified as [deadname] Cedeño Ochoa, known as “Dalezka”, a transgender person who had been missing.
The body was found on the afternoon of Sunday, February 1, in an undefined area of the Bravito estuary, within the archipelago. However, its identification was confirmed on the night of Monday, February 2, when family members went to the Forensic Center in Machala.
Fishermen navigating the area alerted authorities after spotting the lifeless body floating among the mangroves. Personnel from the National Police and the Navy of Ecuador carried out a joint operation to recover the body, which was in an advanced state of decomposition.
According to preliminary forensic reports, the victim had two gunshot wounds : one to the head and one to the right arm.
At the time of the discovery, the body was dressed in women's clothing. Authorities have launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the crime and identify those responsible.
