An 18-year-old transgender woman was murdered on Saturday night (7) in Santo Antônio da Platina, in the Northern Pioneer region of Paraná. Ágatha Mendes' body was found around 6:50 am this Sunday (8), in a thicket on Rua Frei Angélico, in the Monte Carlo neighborhood, near the water tower and a subdivision in the region. The Military Police were called and isolated the site until the arrival of the teams responsible for the investigation.
According to initial reports, Ágatha had a cut wound on her neck. During the initial investigation, a revolver was found hidden in the vegetation near where the body was located. The young woman had no prior police record. The victim's mother reported that around 8 pm on Saturday, her daughter left after receiving an invitation from a man for a date. When she didn't return and couldn't contact her, the mother began searching the area and eventually found the body, then contacted the Military Police.
The Scientific Police and the Forensic Medical Institute (IML) carried out the forensic examinations and the removal of the body. The Maria da Penha Patrol Coordination of Paraná highlighted the importance of using the victim's social name and treating the case as a crime of violence against a transgender woman. To date, the authorship and motivation of the crime remain under investigation.
After the murder Ágata's mother made a plea for justice for her daughter. She believes Ágata was killed by a man she knew. known to her.
Cleaning assistant Luciana, the mother of Ágata Mendes, gave an interview to Npdiario this Sunday, the eighth. She was desperate over the crime committed against the 18-year-old, whose violence in Santo Antônio da Platina caught the attention of the entire country. In the afternoon, she went to the Forensic Medical Institute in the neighboring city of Jacarezinho to authorize the transfer of the body to Londrina for further examination.
Luciana is 49 years old and has six other children. She revealed that Ágatha has never had any prior run-ins with the police. "I expect justice for what they did to my innocent daughter; the murderer has to pay," she stated.
The main suspect is known to Luciana, "he always went out with Ágatha and passed by the same place where my girl was found lifeless; I have no doubt," she added, outraged.
