Nina died by suicide.
With great sadness I must announce, that our beautiful and brave daughter Nina died by suicide at the 21th of March 2026 at the age of 29.
After growing more and more silent during male puberty, Nina came out as a trans woman at the age of 21 and began transitioning. Although she was supported by family and friends, living in a transphobic world, always being questioned and never being fully accepted by society, caused her a lot of stress. Unbearable stress that caused depression and made it impossible for her at the end to even go to work. She loved her work, she loved her friends, she loved her life. But at the end, there was no life energy left to live her life. We only realised after her death how much pain there was behind her beautiful smile.
Nina was gentle and kind to everyone, she was very thoughtful. It was important to her, never to hurt the feelings of anyone. She hold a university degree in computer science / data science, she was highly intelligent, very interested in politics and history, she loved to travel and loved meeting friends. She was into all sorts of games, especially table top games and role playing games. She was working voluntarily for a queer film festival.
Nina was a wonderful person, she is deeply missed by her whole family and friends.
Fly to the rainbow, Nina! We will always remember you.
