The São Paulo Civil Police has launched a detailed investigation to clarify the circumstances of the death of Renata Almeida Dutra , 43. The trans woman was found lifeless by her own mother last Tuesday (31), in an apartment located on the busy Rua Augusta, in the central region of the São Paulo capital. The case was initially registered as a suspicious death, since the body presented specific physical signs that require expert analysis.
According to the information contained in the police report, the victim had a swollen face and a purplish bruise on her right forearm. This physical evidence raises questions about what might have occurred in the hours leading up to her death. Authorities are currently trying to determine if the marks are the result of possible violence or if they are related to cosmetic procedures Renata underwent.
The scene found at the property also caught the attention of the experts and the family. Although the apartment showed no signs of forced entry, relatives of the victim noticed the absence of valuables. According to family members, Renata's cell phone and several pieces of jewelry were not found inside the residence. The Military Police were the first to arrive at the scene and immediately confirmed the death, preserving the area for the arrival of the forensic team.
Investigations indicate that Renata's boyfriend was the last person to have direct contact with her. Images captured by the building's security cameras show the man walking through the hallway and using the building's elevator. Despite these images, as of the last update on the case, he was not being treated by the police as a formal suspect in her death.
Interestingly, the man was arrested by authorities the day after Renata's death. However, the arrest was for a theft, unrelated to the death on Rua Augusta Police information indicates he already has an extensive criminal record. His testimony is considered key to reconstructing the chronology of events and understanding Renata's health and safety status in her final hours.
Renata had a well-established life abroad. Speaking to TV Globo, the victim's mother revealed details about her daughter's routine in recent months. "Renata had lived in Paris for over 20 years and came to Brazil in November to spend a few months and celebrate her birthday ," explained the relative, visibly shaken by the sudden loss. The trip, which should have been a time of celebration and reunion, ended in tragedy.
Another relevant point for the investigation is the victim's physical health after a cosmetic procedure. The mother also stated that her daughter "had a facelift — plastic surgery to rejuvenate the face — on March 22nd, accompanied by a friend ." The day before the body was discovered, the mother had brought food for her daughter, and everything seemed normal. On Tuesday, after several unsuccessful attempts to contact her by phone, the decision to go to the property led to the discovery of the body. In an official statement, the Public Security Secretariat informed that "investigations are underway aimed at fully clarifying the facts" through the 4th Police District of Consolação.
