The victim was murdered in a hotel room. Her identity was not known.
The murder of a trans woman inside a room at the Cedro hotel in downtown Cancun is being investigated under the femicide protocol, while authorities intensify the search for the main suspect, who left the place hours before the discovery.
The body was found in room seven after employees reported to 911 that the person was unresponsive and the door was locked . Police and firefighters forced entry and found the victim covered with blood- stained sheets .
According to initial reports, the woman had a deep wound to her neck that caused her almost immediate death. The motive for the crime has not yet been determined.
Initial investigations indicated that the room was rented by two people. However, the man who was with her left in the morning, stating that she would be resting, thus avoiding raising suspicion among the staff.
The victim's identity was confirmed through documents found among her belongings, although her body remains in protective custody until her family is notified. The body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo).
