Dayana died in hospital after being beaten by an unidentified assailant several days earlier.
On April 16, 2026, Dayana died in the hospital from medical complications with wounds she suffered days earlier at the hands of an unknown person in San Jose del Cabo, in Baja California Southern.
Sources close to Dayana report that she was beaten by a stranger and ended up in the hospital. After a couple of days of receiving treatment, she expressed in communications with her friends that she would be discharged soon. Shortly after she died suddenly in hospital.
Dayana was taken by her family back to her native Guerrero, where she was buried. She is the 12th victim of transfemicide in Mexico as far as 2026 and the 5th in just the month of April. We demand that the Mexican State be responsible and respond to this wave of violence.
