Sarabjit's body was found with stab wounds inside a residence.
Bathinda: A 37-year-old transgender [person] has been found dead with injuries to the neck and head inflicted with a sharp-edged weapon.
Identified as Sarabjit Kaur, the transgender [person] was living alone at Kotbhai village in Gidderbaha sub-division of Muktsar district.
Her body was recovered from a cot at her small house on Thursday morning. The reason behind the murder could not be known.
Gidderbaha DSP Arun Mundan, speaking to TOI, said that the police received information of a body having been recovered from a house at Kotbhai village.
"When we reached the place, we found the transgender [person], Sarabjit Kaur, lying on a cot as we detected two injuries to her neck and head that seemed to have been inflicted with a sharp-edged weapon. A case under murder charges has been registered against unidentified persons and further investigations are being made."
He said that as of now, no exact reason behind the killing has come to the fore.
