Valeria was brutally murdered in her apartment. Having stolen her car, her partner is on the run from police.
A 37-year-old transgender woman was found murdered inside her home in Virrey del Pino, La Matanza. The main hypothesis of the investigation points to her partner, a 28-year-old man who remains at large.
The victim, identified as Micaela Valeria Benítez, was found dead in her apartment on calles Santiago del Estero and Horacio Quiroga, at kilometer 44 of Route 3.
Upon entering the premises, the police discovered that the woman was lying on the floor of one of the rooms, with multiple stab wounds in different parts of her body, mainly on her neck, chest and back.
A knife with bloodstains was found in the bathroom.
Initially, investigators did not rule out that the crime was linked to an attempted robbery, since, according to a neighbor, the victim had planned to sell his car, a maroon Ford Fiesta, and had even been in contact with a potential buyer.
However, as the case progressed, Benítez's partner was identified as the main suspect, who allegedly escaped after the incident, taking the victim's vehicle with him.
The accused is subject to an arrest warrant both nationally and internationally, while operations continue to find his whereabouts.
The case was assigned to prosecutor Adrián Arribas, from the Functional Unit of Homicide Investigation of La Matanza.
After people who should know better wrote hateful and ignorant comments on a social media post about the murder, the following reply chastised them and revealed a little about who Valeria was:
They're so out of touch. She was my son's godmother. Valeria, that was her name. She was a beautiful and much-loved person. Try to understand someone's life before you speak and act.
