Bianka died after suffering severe burns in an arson attack on her home on 7th April. She was a teacher at the Alcides Lins State School.
A suspect is in custody. Apparently he is an ex-partner of Bianka's partner.
A transgender woman who suffered burns to approximately 80% of her body after an attack in Curvelo, in the Central region of Minas Gerais, on April 7th, died this Sunday (May 3rd). She was undergoing treatment in Belo Horizonte, but did not survive the consequences of her injuries.
The death has been confirmed by the Interventor Alcides Lins State School, where the victim worked as a teacher. In a statement, the institution lamented the teacher's death and highlighted her career within the school community.
According to the Civil Police, three days after the crime, a 25-year-old man was arrested, suspected of attempting to kill his ex-partner and also injuring the teacher, who suffered burns to approximately 80% of her body. The motive, according to the investigation, was...jealousy.
Bianka, 36, was not the intended target of the attack. Investigations indicate that the suspect planned the attack against his ex-partner, an 18-year- old who is currently the victim's partner. By using a flammable substance and setting fire to the property, the flames engulfed the teacher.
The young man identified as the target of the attack was unharmed, despite being in the house at the time of the fire. According to police chief Rodrigo Vieira Antunes, the suspect had previously made threats against his ex-partner.
After the attack, the man fled, but was located and arrested by the Civil Police after the court authorized his preventive detention. According to the police chief, the corporation highlighted the seriousness of the action and informed that the investigations continue for the complete clarification of the case.
