Angélica's death is being treated as a homicide.
A trans woman identified as “Angélica”, 25 years old, was shot dead on Sunday night (10), on Estrada de Igaraú, in the Estiva region, rural area of São Luís.
According to information from the Military Police, teams were dispatched to respond to the incident and cordoned off the area until the arrival of the forensic team. The victim's body was removed by the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML).
In a statement, the Civil Police of Maranhão reported that the case is being investigated by the State Superintendency of Homicides and Protection of Persons (SHPP). Initially, the incident is being treated as a homicide.
According to the police, investigations are still underway to clarify the circumstances of the crime, as well as to identify the motive and the perpetrators of the shooting.
