Celine was shot in the street. A suspect has been arrested.
A 31-year-old man was arrested this Wednesday, the 13th, suspected of involvement in the murder of a trans woman, a crime that occurred last Monday, the 11th, in the Engenheiro Luciano Cavalcante neighborhood of Fortaleza.
Felipe Costa de Lima is identified as the mastermind and supplier of the firearm used in the murder of Celine Ribeiro Gois, 39. The crime was motivated by a conflict the victim allegedly had with the accused's wife, according to an investigation by the 10th Precinct of the Department of Homicide and Protection of Persons (DHPP).
According to the Arrest Report (APF), at approximately 2:34 AM on Monday morning, Celine was shot near the intersection of João Nonato Costa and Thompson Bulcão streets. She died at the scene of the crime. Surveillance camera footage shows the perpetrators traveling on a bicycle, with a car as a backup.
The images also show that, moments before the crime, the shooter received an object — supposedly a firearm — from someone in the vehicle. The Civil Police of Ceará (PC-CE) identified that the car belonged to Felipe.
Felipe was arrested while still in the act of committing the crime, having been located in Luciano Cavalcante's own residence. "During the investigations, the PCCE also seized three cell phones, a quantity of cocaine, and a silver Fiat Mobi car that was allegedly used in the crime," the Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense (SSPDS) informed in a statement.
According to the APF, there is information that Felipe was allegedly "judged" by members of the criminal organization operating in the region for not having asked for "permission" to commit the murder.
"There is also the possibility that the weapon used in the crime was confiscated by a superior officer of the faction," said Judge Tadeu Trindade de Ávila at a custody hearing held this Thursday, the 14th.
In the Luciano Cavalcante neighborhood, the Comando Vermelho (CV) gang operates. Felipe's preventive detention was ordered.
