Riana died in hospital after being shot in the street. Her killer may have been a disgruntled client.
A 23-year-old trans woman died after being shot on Sunday (17), in the Vila Estado Novo neighborhood, in Uberaba. The suspect of the shooting had not been located by the time the incident was closed.
According to the Military Police, the force was called after the victim was admitted to the São Benedito Emergency Care Unit (UPA) around 12:40 pm, injured by gunshot wounds.
According to the police report, the victim had three gunshot wounds, affecting her arms and chest, in addition to a superficial wound. Despite medical attention, she did not survive her injuries. The victim was taken to the health unit by a man, who left the scene after providing assistance. He told police that he was at home when he heard noises similar to gunshots. When he went outside to check what had happened, he saw a white pickup truck leaving the scene at high speed and found the victim lying on the ground, asking for help.
During the investigation, witnesses interviewed by the police recognized the suspect as the man who allegedly shot the victim. A witness further reported that she and the victim had previously been hired by the suspect. Later, according to the testimony, the man returned to the location claiming he couldn't find a cell phone. Upon being told he couldn't find it, he apparently fired the shots and then fled in a white pickup truck.
The Civil Police forensics team was called in, but did not go to the scene because, according to the report, the scene was already deemed unsuitable. The Military Police conducted searches to try to locate the suspect, but he had not been found by the time the incident report was closed.
