Yasmin was one of two trans people attacked by unidentified assailant(s) at a poultry farm. The other victim was taken to hospital in critical condition.
The police recovered the throat slit body of a third gender and rescued another in critical condition in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi on Monday.
The deceased is Yasmin, 26, also known as Suman, from Pirijkandi village in the upazila.
The injured, identified as Chandni, 26, also known as Babu, is from the same area, and was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Raipura police station officer-in-charge Mujibur Rahman said that the incident occurred around midnight at a poultry farm in the Pirijkandi railgate area of Mirzapur union.
On information, the police went to the scene and recovered the body, he said, adding that multiple injury marks were found on the victim’s body.
‘It was primarily suspected that the murder may have stemmed from previous enmity. However, the exact reason of the murder will be known after an investigation,’ Mujibur said.
The police were trying to identify those involved and determine the motive behind the killing, he said, adding that no case was filed as of Monday evening.
