Natália and her husband Ademar Spacino Júnior were both shot dead by a neighbour. He was arrested on charges of homicide, threats, and illegal possession of a firearm.
Nathalia dos Anjos Molina, a 33-year-old trans woman, and her husband Ademar Spacino Júnior, 38, were shot dead in the early hours of Friday (5), in Vila Taquarussu, in Campo Grande. The suspect in the murder was arrested and claimed he killed them because they assaulted his wife.
Nathalia's mother disagrees with this version of events, saying the motive was that the couple was same-sex. Family and friends of the victims also said that the suspect was considered problematic and caused trouble with everyone in the village.
Nathalia was known for helping her mother with her bar and snack business, and she didn't deserve to "die like that."
According to the police report, the perpetrator's wife stated that the victim couple spent the night consuming alcohol and drugs and that there was a history of threats, including a police report filed in March of this year. She reported that, upon leaving for work around 5:30 a.m., she was approached aggressively by the victims.
According to the woman, Nathalia delas tried to hit her with a piece of wood, while Ademar allegedly threatened to get a knife to kill her.
The suspect, identified as Deivison, told police that he went out to defend his wife and that Nathalia had tried to attack him with a piece of wood. He stated that he fired shots at the victim and then shot Ademar after seeing him with a knife in his hands. After the crime, he fled the scene and was located at his mother-in-law's house.
However, evidence gathered by forensics could be crucial in clarifying the sequence of events. According to the police report, Nathalia had three entry wounds in her back, while Ademar was hit by two shots in the chest area. A revolver and ammunition were seized at the suspect's residence.
The case was registered as simple homicide, threats, and illegal possession of a firearm. The Civil Police are investigating the circumstances of the double homicide and will determine if there was a transphobic motive, as claimed by the victims' families, or if the crime occurred after a series of threats and conflicts described by the suspects.
