The victim's body was found dumped in a stream with signs of torture. Her identity is not known.
The body of a trans woman with signs of torture was found this Wednesday morning (17) in a stream located behind the Bosque Grill restaurant, on Avenida Constantino Nery, in the Chapada neighborhood in the Central-South zone of Manaus.
Initially, employees in the area found the body floating in the stream and alerted the police. One of the workers even held onto the victim to prevent her from being swept away by the current until the emergency services arrived.
The transgender woman had her hair shaved and showed signs of violence. The initial suspicion is that she was strangled to death, a hypothesis that will be analyzed during the investigations and forensic examinations.
Teams from the Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML) removed the body after the on-site investigation. The victim's identity has not yet been released by authorities.
The case has been registered as a homicide and will be investigated by the Civil Police of Amazonas, who are seeking to identify the victim, clarify the motive for the crime, and locate those responsible for the death.
