Sasha was shot in the hair salon she ran with her partner.
Sasha Dayanara Troya Ramos, a 40-year-old transgender woman, was about to take money from a cash register to give to her partner, Byron Jiménez, when an armed stranger entered the store and shot her at point-blank range, killing her. A 60-year-old employee of the establishment was also injured in the attack.
Jiménez, who was at the site waiting for the cash to process his driver's license, witnessed the crime. Jasmany Troya, the victim's brother, traveled from the island of Bejucal and stated that he did not know if his relative was suffering any kind of threat or conflict.
Following the alert, members of the National Directorate of Investigation of Crimes against Life (Dinased) and Criminalistics went to the business to collect the body and gather evidence at the scene, including cell phones, spent shell casings and projectiles.
The injured woman was initially taken to the Palenque health subcenter and later transferred to the Nicolás Infante Hospital in Vinces. The attending physician reported that the patient had a gunshot wound to her right thigh, resulting in a fractured femur. Although her condition was stable, her family decided to transfer her to a medical facility in Guayaquil for further treatment.
