The family of [deadname] Cumapa, known as Lizzy Rachel, 29, is experiencing profound grief after her body was found at her home of four years in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As her body cannot be repatriated to Peru due to the ongoing judicial investigation her loved ones in San Miguel de Río Mayo in Lamas province are holding a wake with her clothing and a photograph.
The victim's father, Hudson Fasabi Fasabi, stated that the family lacks the financial resources to travel to Argentina or conduct any necessary legal proceedings, and appealed to the authorities for assistance in solving the case. He also expressed his desire for justice for his [daughter]'s death and lamented not being able to say a final goodbye in his homeland.
Lizzy Rashel's sister reported that she was notified of her death in the early hours of June 24, St. John's Day, by telephone. She explained that she was told the body would remain under judicial custody for an investigation that could last up to two years, and therefore would be buried in that country and could not be repatriated.
She recalled that Lizzy Rashel had returned just three months ago to visit her family and participate in carnival activities before going back to Argentina in search of better opportunities. She recounted that she had left for Argentina more than four years ago seeking a better future. Today, amidst grief and helplessness, they are demanding that the authorities investigate the case and punish those responsible so that her death does not go unpunished.
