Voss Barclay
Age 349 Jul 2026
Westminster, Colorado (USA)
Possible suicide
Voss and his dog were found dead two days after he had been reported missing by his partner.
THORNTON, Colo. — Voss, a transgender man, has reportedly been missing since Saturday morning, and his girlfriend is asking the public for help finding him.
According to his girlfriend, Kirsten DeVon, Voss was last heard from around 11 a.m. Saturday, when he said he was going to the store to get supplies for a planned camping trip.
DeVon said Thornton Police told her Voss’s vehicle was captured by a Flock camera in Westminster at approximately 11:42 a.m. Saturday. Voss is believed to be traveling in a white Toyota Tacoma with Colorado license plate BSCY97. The truck has two main doors with smaller rear doors that open after the front doors are opened. A blue-and-white “Blue Leaf School” sticker is on the back.
Voss also has his dog, Porter, with him. Porter is described as a roughly 40-pound chocolate Lab.
DeVon said Voss has been struggling with his mental health for several months and recently left a crisis center in Aurora. Before that, she said, he had been at a crisis center in Littleton off Santa Fe.
Voss worked at a local preschool and had previously worked at Denver Animal Hospital.
Local news outlets reporting respectfully and correctly named and gendered Voss, but in the wake of his death a number of people left hateful comments on social media posts because he was LGBTQ and they were upset that he also took the dogs life. After Jefferson County Dispatch News shared a post asking others not to attack LGBTQ people and saying that they deserve to be treated like human beings, the post almost instantly attracted large numbers of hateful comments and messages.
