Meeshi was one of two trans women shot during an argument. Meeshi died but her friend Tara survived with critical injuries.
Two transgender persons, Meeshi and Tara, were shot near Chamkani Police Station in Peshawar.
According to initial reports from transgender community, Meeshi had gone with her friend Tara to recover her mobile phone and money from her intimate friend, who had refused to return them. A heated argument broke out, during which the accused opened fire on both of them.
Meeshi was killed in the attack, and her body has been handed over to her family. Tara sustained critical injuries and is currently hospitalized.
Arzoo Khan, President of the KP Transgender Community and Executive Director of Manzil Foundation, strongly condemned this brutal killing, stating that the continued targeting of transgender persons is unacceptable and demands immediate action. She urged the KP Police to arrest the accused without delay and called on the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to ensure justice, strengthen protection measures, and end the impunity surrounding violence against the transgender community.
