Murdered

Samantha was murdered in her home.
On July 21, Samantha Rivas, an elderly transgender woman, was murdered in her home. The local press reported the incident using the victim's legal name and mentioned that her body showed signs of violence, but argued that "according to official data from the Prosecutor's Office, she died from hypovolemic shock due to a lung injury."
There is no statement on this matter yet on the Sonora Attorney General's website.
Samantha Rivas was murdered in Agua Prieta, Sonora. Her death is not an isolated incident: it is part of the systematic violence that continues to claim the lives of trans women in Mexico.
Desde la Asamblea Nacional Trans No Binarie (ANTNB) demand that the Sonora State Attorney General's Office conduct a prompt, diligent, and gender-sensitive investigation, as well as the unrestricted respect for Samantha's identity in all official and media communications. Disseminating her deadname or denying her identity constitutes a form of revictimization.
Every transfemicide reflects the State's historical debt to our communities. We will not accept impunity or silence.
To Samantha's family, friends, and loved ones, we send our solidarity and our deepest condolences.
Her name is Samantha Rivas. Her identity must be respected. Her life mattered. We demand justice.
Not one more. Not one less.
Our lives matter.
