Cristel's body was found in the bar where she worked. The circumstances of her death suggest that her death may have been a suicide.
Police and emergency services were mobilised after the lifeless body of a well-known trans woman was found this Sunday inside an establishment in the Benito Juárez neighborhood of the city of Misantla
The discovery took place in the bar called “La Vicenta”, where people who entered the premises found the victim lying down, formally identified as [deadname] Soto Landa, approximately 38 years old, who was affectionately nicknamed “La Rabiosa”.
It was revealed that the deceased was originally from the town of La Vigueta and worked as a waitress in the aforementioned establishment. She also occasionally worked as an assistant to a well-known dressmaker in the municipal capital and was quite well-regarded in the area.
The incident caused shock among residents of the municipality of Misantla and members of the LGBTIQ+ community, who expressed their dismay on social media, while authorities continue their investigations to clarify how the events occurred.
