Luisa LM , a 24-year-old trans woman, died on July 29 at the Jiménez Regional Hospital. She had been found unconscious on calle Hidalgo in the same city in the early morning hours with injuries that resulted in her death, and according to the State Attorney General's Office, she died from a traumatic brain injury. The LGBT+ community is demanding justice and a thorough investigation into her death, which they consider a suspected case of transfemicide.
The events occurred during the early hours of Wednesday, when the 911 emergency system received a report that a person was unconscious on the sidewalk of calle Hidalgo Street. Paramedics from Civil Protection attended to the case.
Luisa's body was lying on the public road. She had bruises on different parts of her body and was taken to the Jiménez Regional Hospital, where she received first aid; however the State Attorney General's Office was notified after it was determined that she no longer had vital signs.
Minutes later, agents from the State Investigation Agency arrived at the hospital and opened an investigation into the death to clarify the circumstances. The Prosecutor's Office has stated that the cause of death is still under investigation.
