Kimberlyn was killed by her partner.

Frayelys Molina is one of the sisters of the 35-year-old trans woman murdered this weekend , allegedly by her 59-year-old partner, in the home they shared in San Pedro Alcántara, Marbella. She spoke to Málaga Hoy from Venezuela , across the ocean, where her family had hoped to see her again after almost six years.

[Deadname] was the name still listed on her documents; Kimberlyn was the female term she used to identify. According to her sister, the victim "always considered herself a woman" and argues that her murder should be recognized as gender-based violence.

The last conversation between the two sisters dates back to last Friday, two days before the stabbing. The victim was preparing to return to her country when she stopped communicating. "She went to get her things from this man's house and never wrote to me again. She wanted to come and see us," she told this newspaper.

[Kimberlyn]'s family was slow to learn of the tragedy. It was a friend living in Spain who informed them after learning what had happened through the media. On Wednesday, the police confirmed the fatal outcome. Following his arrest, his partner remains in pretrial detention, under investigation for suspected homicide.

Her sister believes that the crime stems from a desire for control and a toxic relationship that had recently begun to worry her family and friends in Venezuela. “Towards the end, I noticed he was acting very suspiciously,” the victim’s sister reflects. “Every time I called her, he was by her side; she was never alone,” she adds.
