Gabrielle was found dead in a prison cell in Complexo Penitenciário de Viana. Two inmates confessed to killing her.
A [trans woman] was found dead inside a cell at Penitenciária de Segurança Média 2 (PSME II), in Complexo Penitenciário de Viana, early Sunday morning (27). The victim was identified by the social name Gabrielle and was known as Bananinha. According to information from the Department of Justice (Sejus), two inmates confessed to committing the homicide after an argument. Two other inmates who were in the same cell at the time of the crime were also taken to give statements to the police authority.
According to a source interviewed for this report, the victim was decapitated. However, information regarding the circumstances and the nature of the injuries will need to be clarified by the police investigation and forensic examination.
Gabrielle had been in prison since June 8, 2024. According to information provided to the reporter, she was facing charges of robbery and drug trafficking. Among the two inmates who confessed to the homicide, one has been imprisoned since August 2, 2017, and is charged with rape of a vulnerable person, conspiracy to traffic drugs, and property damage. The other has been in the prison system since April 23 of this year, for the crimes of drug trafficking and conspiracy to traffic drugs.
The other two inmates questioned by the police also have criminal records. One of them has been incarcerated since May 31, 2022, for drug trafficking and receiving stolen goods. The other has been in custody since August 3, 2023, for drug trafficking and robbery.
The investigation should determine the circumstances of the homicide, the participation of each of the four inmates, and the motivation behind the argument that preceded the crime.
